In 2011 he initiated pre-clinical stem cell research at Switzerland’s Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Subsequently, he was instrumental in securing a three-year grant from the Swiss Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI) for an EPFL and Stemedica International joint project on Alzheimer imaging (AIM) and stem cell therapies. Before joining Stemedica he held research and product-development positions at Thermotrex, Trex Enterprises and Cymer, including developing lasers for hair removal, vascular treatment and skin resurfacing. Dr. Lukashev currently holds seven U.S. patents and has been published in more than 40 peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He is a member of SPIE and ASLMS. He studied under Nobel Prize Winner and Academician Alexander Prokhorov at Moscow’s General Physics Institute (GPI), where Lukashev earned his Ph.D. in laser physics in 1992.
